Fabian Bachert studies plants – here, he tells you about his absolute favorite of them all: the classic Yucca gigantea!

Bigger is not always better? No way! I l-o-v-e big plants. The Yucca gigantea, as the name suggests, can grow several meters high and take up a lot of room. They remind me of my travels in Central and South America where they grow everywhere. Now they live in my living room and create a chill, tropical atmosphere all around.

Yuccas can be cultivated all year round at room temperature. However, water sparingly during winter. A few sips are enough, and let the soil dry out in-between. During winter, yuccas will grow long and thin shoots that destabilize the plant if it gets too much water.
