The Gasteria batesian is one of my favorite slow-growing plants. Succulents are like sculptures to me, a natural piece of art, only that they are unpredictable because you never know in which direction they grow. I just love observing how they slowly change their shape, day-to-day. Plant-watching is really a thing for me. It’s my way of meditating.
What I also find interesting is that Gasterias stores water in their leaves. They can easily survive even months of drought, damage-free. I wish I were that frugal! When watering, less is more. And make sure that the planter has a drainage hole to avoid waterlogging.
